OK, so I finally figured out how to post the results of all the neat little online quizzes which are such a mainstay of the LJ crowd.

Of course, the results of this one didn't surprise me at all. What did surprise me was that paleologa, from whose LJ I got the quiz link, made out the same. I really thought she'd be Destiny or something...

Which Sandman Character are You?

You are Death!
Snowshoes is my little boy, rescued from the streets with his brother and sister after living in a lawnmower bag for warmth amongst its clippings. He came to me by way of the Belvidere Cat Rescue Organization.

He was diagnosed yesterday with FIP and has several other infections, including an upper respiratory, pancreatic inflammation, conjunctivitis in both eyes, and severe weight loss. He came to me looknig fine, and then two weeks ago, he started losing weight.

His prognosis is uncertain, but I promised him that I would take care of him as long as he's happy and in no pain. He still loves to run around with his adoptive big brothers, Mallory and Marty, and eats like a horse. He ate almost all of an 8 oz. steak I brought for him yesterday night after he got out of the vet.

Please send your good thoughts and healing energies to my little boy. I want to give him as long and happy of a life as I can.

Tonight, I will be performing my yearly ritual of watching the pilot episode of Space:1999. You have to dig those funky bell-bottom leisure suits at Moonbase Alpha. To think that this was the most expensive science fiction show produced at the time it was on TV (1975-77), and that it was produced by the same people who brought us those bobbleheaded Thunderbirds, is pretty freakin' amazing.

According to the show's lore, September 13, 1999 was the date of the big lunar nuclear explosion that shot the moon out of Earth's orbit. See for yourself and be mildly amused...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erpVAILpUyI

Today being the one year anniversary of the landfall of Katrina, it seems fitting that the sky would be wide open and crying today. The tributes, the news recaps, the continuing suffering all are front and center in my mind. And now with TS Ernesto headed for Florida, I have nothing but faith in the Bush Administration to fail miserably if a repeat of last year's nightmare were to become even remotely possible.

I caught Spike Lee's documentary on Katrina, "When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts" on HBO last week, and it will be replayed in its entirety this evening. I'm not a huge fan of Lee's films, but his documentaries and biopics ("4 Little Girls," "Malcolm X") have appealed to me.
"When the Levees Broke" was, while hopeful for the future of the people of New Orleans, successful in fueling already strong anti-Bush, anti-Chartoff, and anti-FEMA sentiments. The AP Newswire reported recently that at the film's premiere, people loudly yelled and booed whenever Bush, his cronies, and the military appeared on screen. I am in full agreement with these sentiments. It's amazing that his stupidity and monstrosity of his administration's failures, topped off by Katrina, still hasn't registered with some Americans. Please, you people--wake the hell up.
